Exploring 2018 Program: Discover Your Future!


June 7th, 2018 to August 2018: Have fun and gain insight into careers in the medical field!

The Health Museum, in partnership with Boy Scouts of America, proudly presents Exploring: Discover Your Future in the Houston Museum District. Open to all students ages 14 to 20. Based on a dynamic relationship between youth and organizations in their communities, The Exploring Program Series will provide experiences to help young people mature and prepare them to become responsible adults.

Courses are two hours long which will provide a challenging and interactive experience that promotes awareness about careers in the medical field. Students will explore topics not typically covered in school.

*You do not have to be a scout to participate in this program. Classes are open to boys and girls.

General Information

Class Hours

Class hours are from 6 pm - 8 pm. 

Pick up Times

Students are encouraged to be at the health museum or partner facility by 5:45 pm and picked up by 8:00 pm. 

Exploring Registration

Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis and all sales are considered final. 


Dinner will not be provided for participants. Students are welcome to bring their own snacks.   

Member Discounts

Membership must be current to take advantage of discounted exploring fees. Family Level members and above are eligible for discounted exploring fees. For more information about memberships, visit the membership section of our website or contact the membership department at membership@thehealthmuseum.org.


Students must participate in all Exploring classes


Cancellations, Drop/Adds, and Refunds

The Museum reserves the right to cancel classes that do not meet minimum enrollment requirements. If a class is cancelled by the Museum, patrons will receive a prorated refund. There are no refunds for no shows or classes cancelled by registrants less than 10 days prior to the class.

Biomedical Engineering

Ever wondered how skin is generated for a burn victim? Come explore the world of biomedical engineering. Learn about biomedical advancements that enhance the lives of millions everyday.



Medical Microbiology

Bacteria, Fungi, Parasites! Learn all about pathogens and how they are used in the medical field. Come explore a Microbiology lab at McGovern Medical School and plus more in this exciting course.


June 7th

Doctor For A Day

Do you have what it takes to be a Doctor for a Day! Become fully engaged in this eye-opening class geared towards educational activities and fostering the want for knowledge within the fascinating world of medicine.


June 21st

Dentist For A Day

Did you know that tooth enamel is the hardest substance in the human body? In this course, you will learn about the importance of your teeth and explore how to become a dentist.

July 19th & July 26th

Museum Operations and Admistration        

Have you ever wanted to know what it takes to operate a Museum? Find out in this class! Learn about the administration side of the Museum and  create activities that could possibly be featured in the Health Museum’s upcoming exhibit Body As Art.
