LaTanya Miles is a senior leader with more than 20 years of excellence in organizational development and educational program management. She is a global citizen who has developed programs to inspire youth across the globe.
Miles is committed to creating authentic programs that excite and motivate youth to impact their communities and the world. Fundamental to Miles’ philosophy is her core belief that every child given the opportunity and the tools to learn, will succeed. Miles worked for the Japanese Ministry of Education teaching English to local-area school children and adults.
A graduate of Spelman College, Miles began her career in academia as a classroom teacher and has experience in creating both formal and informal, evidenced-based STEM curricula. Her early career in Aldine ISD and Spring ISD has given her multicultural, pragmatic classroom experience. As Director of Education & Public Programs, she plans to produce programming that integrates health and technology with real-life applications. She has a keen understanding of how informal education at The Health Museum must align with state and national standards. Miles recognizes that the big-picture strategy at education-based nonprofits must fulfill community needs. She serves on the Champions Board for the Texas Girls Collaborative Project and co-developed the award-winning Diva Design program that empowers girls to explore STEM and technical careers.
Miles believes building learning ecosystems that empower learners at all ages of life is essential to academic success. Her methodology for transformational education is imbued with human connection, individualized instruction, creativity and 21st Century learning skills.
