Looking for a great place to host a birthday party? 

Looking for a great place to host a birthday party? The Health Museum offers a unique venue for kids to celebrate and explore. Our one-of-a-kind museum takes children on an individualized adventure through our current exhibits and more! We offer convenient party packages that include a private party room, party attendant, and balloon bouquets! The Health Museum creates a memorable event for your child's special day.

Basic Party package includes:

  • Museum general admission for parents and all party guests
  • Individualized guided tour of the Museum*
  • Movie in the McGovern Theater
  • Birthday Party Attendant
  • Party space rental for two hours
  • Personalized Digital Birthday Party Invitations for party guests, sent by the Museum (optional add-on)**

DeBakey Cell Lab Birthday Parties

Party like a CELLebrity and gear up with a lab coat, goggles and gloves like a researcher. CELLebrity party guests get exclusive access to the DeBakey Cell Lab.  

 

The DeBakey Cell Lab parties for are ages 8 and older. The number of party guests must not exceed 25 children maximum with adults supervision. All children must be accompanied by an adult during the DeBakey Cell Lab party.

 

DeBakey Cell Lab birthday parties are $400 for 15 children, and $525 for up to 25 children.

Decorations

Party packages include museum decorations and area set-up consisting of the following: round tables and chairs for guests, and rectangular tables for food and gifts. You are welcome to bring additional decorations. 

 

Please do not bring silly string and confetti. Also, please do not use tape on the walls or ceilings. An additional $25 clean-up fee will be added to your final bill if those items are used.

 

There is no access to hang a Piñata. A Piñata on a pull string is allowed.

Food

Food, drinks, cake, etc. are not provided by the Museum. You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks or have it delivered to the Museum.

Parking

Parking is available at the Museum's surface lot for a special reduced price of $3 per vehicle for Birthday Party Patrons if pre-paid for in advance during the booking process.

 

All party guests who park in the Museum's surface lot are responsible for paying for parking while they are at the Museum. Party guests who pay at the Museum's ticket desk receive the Museum visitor rate of $5 per vehicle.

Reserving your party

To secure your reservation, a signed rental agreement and a $50 deposit are required. Reservations should be made at least two weeks in advance.

 

A cancellation fee of $50 will apply. Final payment is due upon arrival. If you have additional questions, please refer to our frequently asked questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size tables will be provided and will the tables have table cloths?

The tables provided are 48” round tables, 5 chairs per table. The number of tables will be based on the party package. The tables do not have tablecloths. The tabletops are bright blue laminate, so they do not require linens. 6-ft tables are also provided for refreshments and gifts and are covered with bright plastic tablecloths.

Does the museum provide food & beverages?

Food & beverages are not provided as part of the party package. You are responsible for bringing your own food, beverages, ice, plates, cups, napkins, utensils, etc.

Where should I tell guests to meet?

Guests should enter through our east entrance (Crawford St. entrance). They can park in our surface lot (enter lot from Hermann Dr). Parking is $3 (museum members) and $5 (museum visitors). Birthday party parents can arrange to pay for parking for all guests who park in the surface lot. The Admission Desk staff will direct them to the room.

Will our party coordinator help with accepting the gifts at the entrance?

No, the party coordinator will be setting the room and making sure guests receive admission stickers. Guests will be asked to take gifts to the room. 

How do I get my supplies from my car to the birthday party room?

There will be a cart for you to unload items from your car and take them to the room. This cart will also be available for you to use at the end of the party to load gifts and unused supplies.

What does the Party Coordinator do before and during the party?

Your Birthday Party Coordinator will set the room with balloons and other birthday décor items. You are responsible for setting food, cake, napkins, etc. He or she will also place admission stickers on parents and kids as they arrive. These stickers should remain on guests while they are in the museum. This allows staff to know they are guests of the birthday party and do not need to pay general admission. During the party, the coordinator will gather the kids to take them on a tour of the museum. Adults are asked to accompany the group for safety and parental supervision. Adult admission is complimentary for this purpose.  


While in the party room, the parents are responsible for the behavior of all kids. The party coordinator will check on you and assist you with any help you may need. If you choose the DeBakey Cell Lab Themed Party option, the party coordinator will lead the children in the classroom activity.

How much time do the kids spend in the museum exhibits and the party room?

Plan to spend approximately 45 minutes to an hour in the exhibits. The time spent in the party room is devoted to refreshments and birthday cake. We do not recommend you open gifts at the museum as this takes a large amount of time. Your Birthday Coordinator will assist you in managing your time.

In what order do things occur? Does the tour happen first or do the kids eat first?

The specific order of events is flexible. The Birthday Party Coordinator will work with you to establish a timeline. If you are looking to eat first and then tour the museum, we can adapt the schedule

What time should we arrive to prepare for our child’s party?

The party room will be ready 15 minutes prior to your start time. You are welcomed to arrive 30 minutes early to prepare, but please know we may still be setting the room with balloons and décor items. If you arrive more than 30 minutes early, you will not have access to the room.
